Cricut Quickie
Here's my very first Cricut Quickie! I had to throw together a card for a friend of my son's birthday half an hour before he was walking out the door. Don't you just love how they give you a heads up!?! So when it was done I had the idea of doing a "Cricut Quickie" each week. No thinkin ahead....you just have to walk up to the cricut machine and decide! It was actually fun. So I started out with Black cardstock from DCWV for the base and red for the background. Then I quickly flipped through my cricut manuals and decided on the Just 4 You image from graphically speaking. I cut the "Just" box out of black glitter paper from DCWV glitter pack at 4", then the 4, but it was TOO big so I cut it again at 2 1/2" and it was perfect. Then I noticed Potpourri Basket sitting there open to the stars on the all star page so I decided to add some of those. I ran my red cardstock through my new Sizzix Texture Boutique with the scrolls plate and cute the edge with a notebook punch. I think it's Martha Stewart but I'll have to double check that. Then adhered everything together and used the inkadinkadoo stamp Happy Birthday on the inside and embossed it in white. Easy Peasy! I had no idea when Dylan was showing up to pick up Dennis so it was a bit stressful but fun too. The best part was later that evening when the kids stopped by and Dylan thanked me for "making" his card. He thought that was pretty cool.

Hi Jen :)
ReplyDeleteThats a great quick card! I hope the birthday boy liked it? I have so many cards I make for fun so I hope I won't ever be in this situation. I'd probably panic!
With Lee's job, the other company (The one he worked for before) lied to him about the conflict in his contract! GRRR. I cannot believe they would do something so low just because they wanted him! So he got the better job offer which is such good news for us. The only bad thing is he's away in London (2 hours away) for 4 days. I'm trying to think of it as a good thing as I'll have more time to craft and do university work, but I know i'll miss him loads!

HEHEH, Im laughing because I can totally relate to those last minute (sometimes as they are walking out the door minute), card requests from my kids and my husband. LOL...
ReplyDeleteYou did an awesome job with this!! WOW! turned out fantastic. Maybe making last minute cards is the way to go huh?? :) Love it!
Wow this is awesome. I've had a cricut for years and never used it. Guess I should do something about that. Love the Art Glitter blog. Thanks for sharing that with me. I actually have some of their product, perhaps I should pull it out and do something with that too.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Jenn!! I love the black and red, the spiral punch border and the dry embossing. Great sentiment!
