Cheers

It is a WINDY AND BLISTERY day here in Tennessee!  We are under Tornado Watch till this evening.  It's hot and muggy and windy and I can't believe how much those trees are bending at the moment.  Just crazy.  My poor dogs are going crazy.  They hate storms.  We don't have any rain yet, but did yesterday.  Definitely not a day you want to be out and about.  Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll let my hubby come home early today.  Yeah right!!  The last two major tornadoes we went through were within 3 miles of our home.  I'd be really happy if we did not have any touchdowns today!

I have a fun halloween card for you today.  I used "Vampire Lilith" from Lil Lolitta.  I used more paper from my Echo Park pack. After I followed the sketch at Get Sketchy I felt it still needed a little something.  So I added the googlie eyed stars.  They're fun!  Hope you enjoy it.

Stay warm and safe on this blistery day!

Have a "witchin" Halloween

Hi everybody.  A quick post before I head off to bed.  I had a wonderful weekend with my family.  My son's girlfriend joined us for a day of movies and fun.  She was gone for a week at the National FFA convention.  You know FFA in Washington state was something you didn't tell people you  were part of.  But here in the South it's completely different.  The kids are proud to be a part of it.  And your not cool if you aren't a member.  Weird how that works.  My son is a member too, just not an officer.  It will definitely help him when he starts college next year!

Anyway, on to my card.  I used Michelle Perkett's image "Happy Halloween Witch".  Isn't she cute?  I colored her in orange and greens.  She has a bunch of sparkle from my gel pens but it didn't show up very well in this picture.  I followed the sketch at Friday Sketchers.  The papers are from Echo Park.  I got this pack for like $3 from My Sheri Crafts.  It was just 1/4 of each page in a pack.  Let me tell you I have made SEVERAL cards with this pack and still enough paper for several more.  What a great idea to get to try out different designer papers at a fraction of the cost for whole sheets.  Uh oh, I'm supposed to be off already.  I guess I'm not very good at short postings!

Sweet Dreams or daily snoozes, depending on your time zone!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Good Morning and a Happy Sunday to ya!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful day  and thanking the Lord for all their many blessings.  In today's economy so many of us are struggling and facing hardships.  It's important to stop and look around you for all the many blessings that we may overlook.  One blessing we are having is that our garden is still producing, belive it or not.  I canned over 10 cases of salsa, tomatoe juice, and tomatoe sauce this summer.  I thought I was done, but our vines are crawling with tomatoes AGAIN!  Our peppers are still going strong even with 35 degree weather last week.  We have made our own pepper mixes and smoked chipotle peppers.  We've been able to share tons of fruit and vegetables with coworkers and friends that needed it.  One small blessing for us meant blessings for others too.  Take a minute and leave me a comment for what your blessed with today!

I have a Karen's Doodles image today "Scarecrow Girl".  I've used her before but she's so fun to color and I wanted to try her out in blues this time.  I continued the pattern on the inside and added a tag that reads "Thanksgiving Wishes".  My papers are from DCWV and the flowers are miscellaneous Prima.  I distressed all the edges with blue to continue the flow.  I know it's not contemporary Thanksgiving colors but I really like it nonetheless.

May each of you be blessed in some small way today!

Special Post!

Hello to all my scrappy friends out there!  I haven't been online very much this week.  But I have been busy.  Getting presents that is.  I wanted to share with you a couple RAKS I recieved over the last couple weeks.

This first one was a blog candy gift I won during the Mo's Blog Hop. It comes from Paola, all the way from South Africa. I wanted to share the beautiful card she made me along with all the goodies included in it. Thank you Paola!! You're an inspiration and have turned out to be a great friend.

Next up was a Bottle Swap I did with the girls at Serenity Scrappers.  They are so much fun and a great group to work with and get inspired by.  My swap partner was Laura and she went a bit overboard! LOL  We were supposed to use a 20ounce bottle but I think her's was like a gallon or something because it was huge and had lots of really cool stuff in it.  You've seen some of it used already.  Thank you so much Laura!

I recently got a Secret Pal.  I'm so excited.  We will be pals for one year and I am so looking forward to getting to know my special pal.  I'll post what my pal sends me but you won't be able to see what I send her for obvious reasons! Ireceived a beautiful pumpkin card from her.  I understand this is the Iris fold.  I have no idea how to do this but obviously she does and does it well.  Whoever she is she's VERY talented!

One last thing, I'll be posting something sweet on November 1 so make sure you check back for updates.  Believe me when I say you don't want to miss it.  Have a fabulous week ladies!

Magic Genie

Hello and a happy Sunday to ya!  It's a busy weekend around here.  I had time to slip in this post real quick and then I'm off again.  Just a reminder about the new challenges going on at the Hodge Podge Challenge site.  There will be a new challenge this coming Thursday.  I know that Shelley has yummy stuff coming up so you definitely wanna pay attention!

This image is "Genie Oil Lantern" of course from the Hodge Podge Shop.  I colored it up to match the gorgeous papers from Basic Grey's, Eva collection.  It's one of my favorites.  I added some buttons and ribbon and that's about it.  The sketch is from MOJO Monday.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment on my cards.  I really appreciate everything you have to say.

Shower

It's almost Friday! Yay.  Well,  batteries in my camera just died so I guess my day went from bad to worse!  The rest of my posts will have to wait until tomorrow now.  I'm afraid this picture isn't the greatest but at least I can get it up today and then fix the pciture later.  I have a digi image from Belles and Whistles today.  I can't even remember where I got it, I think it was CDAC or PCP, one of those.  Anyway, it's so beautiful.  I had these great papers from Basic Grey to work with.  At first I thought I'd make a birthday card but by the time it got done it definitely looks more like a shower card.  I used the excess scraps to make those flowers.  I had a couple yellow ones in my stash but they were too bright so I used my alabaster chalks to lighten them up just a bit.  I hit the bows and edges of the flowers with some stickles, just enough to give it a little sparkle.  The sketch I followed is from Friday Sketchers.  I seem to always get that in at the last minute, oh well.

Have a great day and I'll be back in the morning with some batteries.  And don't forget to hop over to the Hodge Podge and join in the challenge there!  There's some yummy stuff coming up so make sure your following it so you don't miss out.

Give Thanks!

Happy Wednesday!  To all my Canadian friends I wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!  This was supposed to be my first post today but that darn blogger doesn't like me sometimes.  So here I am again and he finally worked - YAY.

I have a sweet image from DZ Doodles called "Pumpkin Picking Scarecrow".   You can find them on Paper Craft Planet here.  I haven't managed a successful maneuver on their website (it's me not the website!) so I think the challenges are only on PCP.  Let me know if anyone knows differently on that.  I really liked this sweet scarecrow holding that big ole punkin!f  Makes me wanna carve it up right now.  So I used several layers of cardstock to set off those gorgeous leaves on the patterned paper, which I believe is from TLC, but not positive as it was in my scrap bin.  Then I used my mini leaf  and pumpkin punches to create the sentiment and embossed it in gold.  The ribbon is red velvet and came in my bottle swap I got last week.  I'll be posting a picture of all those goodies later this week.  A big THANK YOU to Laura on that one!!

I used several challenges to inspire me on the colores, sketch and items used on this card.  They're listed below!  I also have one maybe two more posts so watch for those too.

Enjoy!

Sweet Pixie

I used this sweet image from Pixie Dust Studios called "Autumn Grace".  I decided to color her in shades of pink.  The challenge at Pixie was to do a sweet baby card.  I chose a sentiment from a friendship set I got a long time ago that reads "The first man a little girl falls in love iwth is her dad."  I just love that saying.  I love my dad more than anything and it's so true!  I followed the sketch at Midnight Madness.  Loved it.  I added the little butterfly and a swirl stamp and then glittered it just to add some sparkles.  The papers are basic grey from one of my favorite collections, Eva.  I'm really trying to use my scraps to a little something the insides of all my cards as well. So here's what I did with this one.  I just used two pieces of scrap papers layered them and punched some tiny hearts then used the punched hearts to add a little design.  And nothin went in the trash!  Yay.

Don't forget that there is still time to enter the Hodge Podge Challenge.  You can find it here!  I have another post in the works but I'm having problems getting my pic's to upload.  Hopefully it will be up soon!

Thanks for stoppin by I read every one of your comments and they mean so much to me.  Especially since I can't get out and about!!

The great pumpkin

Good afternoon!  I've been so busy with the kids and my big card order this week I haven't had alot of time to add to my blog.  Today I have two great images from Sugar Creek Hollow.  The pumpkin is "Swirly Punkin Head" and the spider is "Swirly Spider".  They have some fantastic images over there.  I printed out my spider on cardstock then cut it out and ran it through my Xyron twice.  After I ran it through I added black glitter.  Because it had that extra bit of glue on the edges it gave it a bit of a hairy look to the spider which I love.  I colored my punkin with Prismas and added Green Glitter Gel pen to the swirls.  My stamps smudged so I just went with it.  The main cardstock is  cuttlebugged and I added a piece of ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I've been trying out a few new challenges to meet new people and get a feel for some different artists.  As a general rule I don't usually enter more than 3 challenges at a time because I like to dedicate my cards to those challenges and I don't feel I can do that with tons of entries.  Let me know if you have a favorite too!

Hope you like it!

Gotta have Faith

I sure hope everyone had a fabulous Sunday.  We had church, then  a birthday party for the little boy next door.  We got him a toolbelt and a little bird house to make himself and he just loved it.  Then we had senior pictures for my son.  The lady that did our pictures was fantastic.  She gave us a great deal since we knew her daughter and she was great to work with!  I'll post later this week with some of the shots and her website in case you are in need of her services and your in the Nashville area.  Now I'm settling in for a quiet evening.

I was very discouraged with this card.  I did the fabulous image from Karen's Doodles called "Scarecrow Girl".  Colored her with my Prisma's and was happy up till that point.  Then I got out my  new nestabilities and messed it all up.  I really should have practiced first.  Blah.......So then I put together a couple different scenarios and ended up with this.  The sketch is from MOJO Monday.  That fab ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Aren't those pumpkins cute?!?  Well, enough said for this one.  Hope to see ya'll tomorrow!

Squiggle Me Happy!!

I was SO excited when I logged on today.  I found out I was a grand prize winner over at the CDAC blog hop from last week!!  I won the ribbon organizer.  Considering all my ribbons are in a basket at the moment I can REALLY use it!  Woohoo, doin the happy dance!

Ok, so now for my post.  Squigglefly challenged us to do a clean and simple Christmas Card.  I find myself always trying to push the envelope on embellishments and bling.  But some cards are just great without it.  I chose "Cappuchino Snowman" because he reminded me of home.  The last two weeks especially I've REALLY been missin my family and friends.  So the coffee sentiment was at the top of my list.  Plus he's so darn cute.  I colored him with my Prisma's.  I embossed the background paper with snowflakes and mounted my cutie pie on that.  Then it was just too plain so I added the snowflakes which were cut from my cricut and the sentiment.  It still didn't look quite finished so I added some snowflake brads I found in my stash.  And then.......I know, clean and SIMPLE, BUT......I added just a little bit of stickles to the snowflakes and just the tiniest amount of flock to the cappucino, can't have it without the whip cream!

So there ya go.  Clean and simple, or as simple as I could muster today!

I'm entering it into the following challenge:

Clean and Simple

If you're looking for the Hodge Podge challenge please scroll down.

I love the idea of quick clean and simple cards. Sometimes we get so carried away that we forget simplicity works. So I did this card by following the sketch at Clean and Simple. The paper is from TLC, the thanksgiving pack. I added a Prima flower in brown tones and used a generic "give thanks". Pretty easy peasy!

Have a fab day!

Pink Gem has C-A-N-D-Y!

Just a quick post for ya. Janet over at Pink Gem has some yummy's to win. Pop over and check it out!

One lucky winner will be drawn on the 21st October at 6pm

Brand New Challenge Site!

It's finally here!

This is our very first challenge here at the Hodge Podge Shop. We are so excited! This week we want to see your Distressed creations. You can tear it, ink it, stain it...distress it any way you want.
The lucky, randomly chosen winner will win 2 images from the Hodge Podge Shop store. We have some awesome imagesfrom two terrific artists! And more being added all the time.
We just ask that your creation include a Hodge Podge Shop image. There are some freebies in our group at Paper Craft Planet and Crafters Digital Artist Center.

For my card I chose an image by Michael. His images are realistic and more country or architectual inspired. They're fabulous! A very dear friend of my husbands lost his mother this week. When I sat down to put together a card Michael's image came to mind and it all just fell together. This image was perfect for the sentiment I wanted to express.

The sentiment is from Paper Makeup Stamps and it's the "When There's Nothing Left to Say" set. Mine says "Remember" on the front and then inside it says "May the Sweet Memories you Hold in Your Heart Carry you Through This Difficult Time". Kinda sad for my first DT card, I know, but it was just so perfect.

Thanks for stoppin!!

Monochromatic Apples

Good morning and Happy Hump Day! I made my first attempt at a monochromatic card today. I think they're absolutely gorgeous when done the right way. Now this one isn't on that level, just a fun one. I hope to play with this technique again soon.

I used MelJen's "Little Apple Worms". Colored with my Prisma's. I used these gorgeous papers from Cosmo Cricket's, Double Deck of Girl Friday and Everafter. I followed the sketch from Get Sketchy . I pick my sketches based on which one I think will fit the overall card and image I'm using. It's a pretty simple card really, not a lot of fluff and bling.

I'm brand new to spellbinders and would really appreciate any tips anyone has to offer me. When I ran it through my cuttlebug the first time and the cutting pad made that sound I almost screamed! Is it supposed to make an impring of your spellbinder? I followed the directions. I also found directions for using the sizzix templates in my cuttlebug if anyone is interested. Just let me know.

Your comments mean the world to me, thanks for taking the time to leave one!

"Beware"

I have halloweenie post today. This image comes from the artist Dustin Pike over at Doodle Dragon Studios. Great images, especially for little boys. I used my halloween pack for my papers. Seemed appropriate. I followed the sketch at Pixie Cottage, fun and quick. Nothin spectacular just a fun quick card. I'm trying to visit more artists and use images that are a little different this week.

A sketch and a Thank you!

My second post for today is for Belles and Whistles AND Whiff of Joy! I hope I did this right. It's my first time entering in both of them! If not, I guess I'll learn. This sweet image reminds me not only of spring but of doing for others and being in my mother-in-laws garden. It's just so sweet. I used My Creative Scrapbook kit for everything. It's so nice working with designer papers. They're just so much sturdier. I colored her with my Prisma's and followed the sketch except I added some ribbon on the side.
Thanks for leaving me some love!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. I have a Sassy Cheryl's image "the frills" for you to day. I don't have many Sassy images but she's my favorite of what I do have. I also followed the sketch at Midnight Madness. I need to go check out my last post I think I wrote down the wrong sketch - Oops!

We're finally enjoying some cool weather here. No more 90 degrees and humid. Yay! I have one more post today so watch for that one too.

A little Mayhem!

Happy World Card Making Weekend! I know it was a day. But man all those blog hops turned into day(s)! They were fun though and I got a ton of inspiration and saw so many new images. It was fantastic! This big blog hop at CDAC turned me onto several new artists, or at least new to me, that I had no idea were out there! Can't wait to get some free time to check those out more closely.

Here's my post for today. It's Simply Betty's "Tootsi". I got a scrap pack of papers from My Sheri Crafts and they had these great ones in it. You get to try out all the new papers for only a couple dollars, great deal. I followed the sketch at Midnight Madness. It's definitely not as "vintagey" as all the DT cards over there but still just as much fun.

I believe I still have one blog hop to finish. Fingers crossed I make it to the end tonight - LOL

Also, keep a watch out for the new Hodge Podge Challenges starting this week on Thursday, Oct. 7. I have a card done, but you'll have to wait till then to see it.

Happy Sunday!

Wheelbarrow full of pumpkins!

I just realized I have one more post! Woohoo. This image is "Fall Wheelbarrow" by Karen at Karen's Doodles. Those of you that know me know Karen's was my very first digi image. Look at me now! I followed the sketch at The Sweet Stop, but OOPS it was the wrong one for this weeks challenge. That's okay, I love how it turned out anyway. This sentiment is from Squigglefly called "Nature Gives". Now Karen's challenge was to use 7 of something. Since there were only 6 pumpkins in the wheelbarrow I added one to the corner and popped it up. By the way this image in Karen's store as a freebie at the moment!
See ya!

Good Morning and a happy Friday to ya! It's the end of the work week and that means fun, fun, fun. Am I right??

I have a Digi Doodle Image "Old Truck2" today. It's colored with Prisma's. The papers are from Basic Grey. I double matted them and added some brads for a bit of pop. The sentiment is from my Kraftin Kimmie's stamp set. I really liked the way this turned out for a masculine card. I find the hardest part for me in creating is picking my papers. Does anybody else have that problem. Once I pick the papers I'm good to go. But my organization of papers is a disaster at the moment too so that doesn't help the situation.

Have a fabulous Friday!
